Session Descriptions

Session 1: How Alabama Developed It’s Boundaries

Northeast Corner of State – Troy Halliburton

The Northeast Corner of Alabama has a humble beginning after Alabama became a state, after being known as the boundary that does not reflect the its original Latitude. After being stolen and destroyed twice it still stands in its original position. Come hear the complete story from Troy.

Terminus Point of the Huntsville Meridian – Lee Green

Over the years many different people have looked for the original Freeman line. They don’t exist as the line was run One Township at a time from West to East. The terminus point of the Huntsville Meridian is a point on the last Township line from the South. Come let Lee explain the complete story and the resetting of the corner.

Alabama Corner at the Flora-Bama – Milton Denny

Another little known boundary of Alabama is the one between Alabama and Florida on the Gulf of Mexico. This boundary has a long history going back to East and West Florida under Spanish rule. Today it is the West boundary line of the Flora-Bama, later in the day go to look at the boundary and get a burger and beer at the Flora-Bama.
