Duties will include overseeing field and drafting activities and checking drawings for errors and compliance with Standard of Practice. A qualified candidate for this position is someone who is familiar with field and drafting procedures and is able to draft using AutoCAD. The majority of the work for this position is reviewing completed surveys, communicating deficiencies to drafters, and quoting proposed jobs.     Surveyor/Engineer Assistant

    JBW&T, INC.  is seeking a motivated and experienced surveyor/Engineer assistant.  Must be a team player with self determination to learn and implement surveying as related to construction, engineering and property boundaries.  This career-oriented position is a tremendous opportunity for an individual wanting to secure their career in surveying, construction or civil engineering.

    Qualifications and responsibilities include:

    • Ability to use or learn to use robotics, GPS, level, drone and associated software
    • Basic understanding of property boundary descriptions and their relation to field boundary lines
    • Ability to obtain clearance into military bases
    • Ability to learn to use some or all of the following: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Magnet
    • Ability to work outside
    • Three years experience in surveying/construction/engineering preferred.  Job training is available.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Lift up to 50 pounds of equipment
    • Perform manual labor such as cutting and clearing brush on boundary lines, carrying stakes, and rebar
    • Work outside and/or inside
    • High school/GED required

    • Desire and willingness to do quality detailed work

    Survey Crew Technician (BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA)

    Schoel Engineering has a job opening for a Survey Crew Technician in their Birmingham, Alabama office.  Schoel Engineering is a civil engineering and land surveying firm that provides services throughout Alabama and the Southeast.  Established in 1888, Schoel is the oldest such firm in the state.     The candidate will be required to work outside daily on a Survey Crew at the direction of the Survey Crew Chief.  Experience as a rodman, instrument man, or experience in construction is preferred, but not required.     Job Details

    ·         5+ years of experience in Land Surveying, including Topographic, Right-of-Way, and Boundary Surveys

    ·         At least 1 year of experience managing a crew

    ·         Must have experience with Robotic Total Stations/GPS/Electronic Data Collectors

    ·         Familiarity with State Plane Coordinate System and Zones

    ·         Experience researching deeds and plats

    ·         Prefer CAD experience

    ·         Prefer experience in construction staking

    ·         Must have a high school diploma
